Sagami Rubber Industries Ltd. is a Japanese Company that was founded in 1934 as the nation’s first condom manufacturing corporation; it was also the first company in the world to manufacture colored condoms. Since then, Sagami has grown to be a supplier to over 80 countries around the world.
The brand has received critical acclaim in just about every market they have penetrated, and widespread consumer reports exhibit the mass popularity of the brand across the globe.
Sagami’s mission is to spearhead the development of safer, more effective, and more pleasurable condoms that will encourage more people to use them, consequently alleviating the adversities that come with unprotected intercourse.
Features of Sagami Polyurethane Condoms
- Thickness: Sagami condoms are made from latex or polyurethane, a material that makes it possible for condoms to be much thinner than conventional latex condoms.
- Toughness: Polyurethane condoms have the ability to withstand roughly three times more bursting pressure than latex.
- Odor: The Polyurethane material does not contain any protein, which means there is no latex smell.
- Heat Conductivity: Sagami condoms are excellent heat conductors, transmitting heat between the partners as if there were no condom.
- Texture: Polyurethane molecules align perfectly at high density, giving the condom a smoother, more natural surface/feeling.
- Allergies: Unlike latex, there has been no reported case of polyurethane allergy.
- Oil Resistance: Sagami polyurethane condoms demonstrate more resistance against oil in comparison to latex condoms.
As mentioned, Sagami condoms are made from Latex or Polyurethane, an elastomer polymer that is tough but flexible. This material is widely used in everyday products such as paper diapers and sportswear.
Polyurethane is also used in the medical field to manufacture vessel catheters and artificial hearts due to the material’s high biocompatibility and resistance.
For years, Sagami conducted research on the material and in 1998, they finally made a breakthrough and produced their first Polyurethane condom, which received favor in the market specifically for its more ‘natural’ feel.
Certification: Quality Assurance
Sagami condoms are produced in Malaysia in an ISO13485/MDD certified factory. ISO13485/MDD is a Quality Management System established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in 1996 for purposes of monitoring the design and manufacture of all medical devices.
ISO13485/MDD requires that all certified organizations, such as the Sagami Factory, demonstrate that the set quality standards are effectively implemented and maintained.
Among other things, the ISO13485/MDD Quality Management System; regulates the work environment in order to ensure product safety, establishes specific procedures for documentation and validation of sterile medical devices, and dictates the requirements for verification of the effectiveness of products.
Selection and Sizes
Sagami Original 001
The Sagami Original 001 is a polyurethane condom with a thickness of only 0.018mm. The Sagami Original is one of the thinnest condoms in the world today, which enables partners to experience even more sensitivity during safe sex, almost as if there was no condom present.
The Sagami Original was first successfully launched in 1998 and was the first effective Polyurethane condom ever produced.
The Sagami 001, however, was launched in 2013 and not only did the condom allow for more sensation, but it also provided a comfortable solution and for people allergic to latex, while providing just as much protection. Sagami Original OO1 condoms come in packs of 5, 8, and 12.
Thickness: 18 microns
Sagami Original 002
The Sagami Original 002 was launched in February of 2005. Although it is just a bit thicker than the Sagami Original 001, it has 5 times more bursting resistance than latex condoms, which makes it much safer.
The extra microns of thickness is a small compromise for the added safety, which has kept the Sagami Original 002 relevant in the market to date.
Sagami Original 002 condoms comes in two variants – regular and large – and in 6, 12, 20, and 36 piece packs.
Length (regular/large): 170mm /190mm
Width (regular/large): 55mm / 58mm
Thickness (regular/large): 20 microns
Sagami Xtreme SuperThin
Sagami Xtreme SuperThin used to be Sagami’s thinnest latex condom. Throughout the years the design of this condom has slightly changed and I’m not sure if that still holds truth.
However, whichever version you get, what you can expect is a straight shaped, ultra thin latex condom which comes with a reservoir tip and a silicone based lubricant.
The Sagami Xtreme Love Me Gold Super Thin can be found in packs of 3, 10, 20 and 36.

Sagami Xtreme Energy
The Sagami Xtreme Energy produces a radical energy drink fragrance that induces a sensual atmosphere that is meant to refresh and intensify your whole experience.

Sagami Miracle Fit
The Sagami Miracle Fit was introduced to the Japanese in the summer of 2017 and took the Japanese market by storm. This condom has two unique narrowing zones that make for a tight fit, allowing you more sensation while concurrently securing the condom in place by eliminating the issues of accidental slips and formation folds.
The Sagami Miracle Fit was inspired by previous Sagami models with a few modifications based on market feedback from multiple channels.
This ultra-technological condom sports a more realistic surface shape compared to other Sagami condoms, which allows the wearer a more urbane sensation while providing both parties the highest degree of protection.
The Sagami Miracle Fit comes in packs of 5, 30, and a Fit Size Assorted Sampler Pack of 25 units.
Sagami Xtreme Feel Fit
Yet another revolutionary design from Sagami, the Sagami Xtreme Feel Fit has been designed to resemble the 3D structural anatomy of a penis, which results in a more sensitive feel.
Note, however, there is a distinct difference between the lower and upper sides of this condom; the perforated line should be worn upwards, towards the stomach.
The Sagami Xtreme Feel Fit is manufactured in the Atsugi factory in Kanagawa-ken; this factory has had more than 70 years of experience, which is in itself a testament to the quality of the product.
This condom also has a silicone-based lubricant that gives you a more comfortable and silky feel and allows for easier cleanup.
The Sagami Company has advised buyers to strictly look out for the label ‘Made in Japan’ to ascertain this particular product’s quality prior to purchase.

Sagami Xtreme Ultrasafe
The Sagami Xtreme Ultrasafe is a latex condom that comes in individual packaging with twice as much silicone lubricant in comparison to standard Sagami products.
Due to the extra lubrication, these condoms have been considered Ultrasafe; more lubricant means that the condom is easier to slip on with minimal chances of tearing.
The resultant smoothness also reduces friction and further increases the level of protection. Note, however, the lubrication is non-spermicidal and non-medicated, making it safe for daily use.
The Sagami Xtreme Ultrasafe has a flared shape and comes in packs of 3, 10, and 40.
