We have all heard of the classic Mentos and Coca Cola experiment. It is one of those which causes great deals of excitement in every single child out there, even if it is a bit dangerous (if I do say so myself).
Nonetheless, it is one of the first experiments you can carry out in the comfort of your own home and be safe in the knowledge that if anything goes wrong, your parents will be there to clean up the mess.
However, once you become an adolescent, or even a young adult (or a slighter older male!) then the coca cola and Mentos experiment isn’t going to have quite the same kick as it did before.
Granted, it is still going to be fun, but it does leave a lot to be desired. So why not throw condoms into the mix? That is what one keen ‘youtuber’ seems to have done recently (all the best ideas are on there after all) and he received some quite stunning results.
The best thing about this experiment is that you can actually convince people that it has some sort of scientific merit. After all, it allows you to see just how large condoms can be blown up, and if you didn’t know already, it is actually quite big.
Hopefully a couple of condom manufacturers catch onto this experiment and start to incorporate the experiment into their tests for durability! (the one in this experiment was a durex condom).
Oh, how I love science when it actually has a point to it.
